Sport's geometry
Hi, this is my first entry, so I want to speak about the geometry in sports. I chose this topic to be the first because I´m studying to be a teacher of Physical Education, so I will trate the importance of the geometry.
Everybody think that geometry or math are things very difficult that are not useful, but they don’t understand that geometry and math are the most important thing for every subject.
First of all, I have to say that, by my point of view, there are two interpretations of geometry in sports.
The first one is the geometry in the game. I mean, all the aspect of geometry that influence the game.
For example, in basketball, it is very important to know the angles, because it influence in the way of your launching with the position of your arms. If you want to through the ball far, you will have to apply a greater angle. It is recommended that you throw with an angle of 45 degrees or more, because that helps the ball to more smoothly and neatly enter the basket.
Also, you need to understand the parabola, that is the curve that describes the trajectory of each launch, depending of it, your launch will enter or not in the basket. Another thing in basketball, is the bounces on the board, you need to look where the other person has thrown the ball and know where it will end. For example, if the player throw the ball from a side, that ball with end in the other side, and if is thrown in front, it will go to the same side.
Another example, is the geometry in the padel tactic.
You should see how the adversary put the racket and the intensity, and imagine where is going the ball, to anticipate the game. In this link you can see some tips to read the ball playing padel.
Speaking about football, they use geometry in their tactics. For example, they use triangles to pass the ball when they have another player in front of them.
On the other hand, we can speak about geometry in visual things in sports. For example, courts, balls, rackets, nets…
Speaking about courts, each sport has his own court. Something in common is that everyone has geometry aspects. Rectangles, circles, semi-circles, squares…
As I play padel, I want to speak about padel aspects, relating to the geometry. But every sport has his own properties.
The first thing that we see, is the court. It is a rectangle of 20x10 in which there are some rectangles inside. Each line represent something, for example when you are starting you need to start behind the bottom line, and if you are starting from the right side the ball must enter in the left side. Also, the court have walls, but not any wall. They are made by some different walls. The bottom wall measure 4 meters and the side walls 3 meters. Also we see the net, that is composed by squares. Also the rackets, has different shapes. Depending on the way of your game, you should use one type o the other.

Here you can see some different properties of other sports;
Thank you for watching this post.
